Gabi has learned life lessons during his nearly 11-month recovery from a knee injury before making his comeback. Pablo Martin Paez Gavira or Gabi, the 20-year-old midfielder has opened up after almost a year of rehabilitation from a serious knee injury since November last year. Ahead of Saturday’s ‘El Clasico’ game, Mundo Deportivo sports reported on Friday.
‘I’ve learned a lot because now you appreciate things more. It’s learning that I’ll use for the rest of my life,’ Gabi said UFABET
‘This injury was one of the most serious and I came out of it as a better person and a better teammate.’
The 20-year-old midfielder also spoke about the importance of his support system. And the close circle of people he has had over the past year. Which has helped him to eventually bounce back.
‘My family is above all else, the family I live with every day and my friends. I have their support all the time and, like my colleagues, at the end of the day. I am with them every day.’
Gavi has played as a substitute in the last two games, against Sevilla and Bayern Munich. But the 20-year-old midfielder has not given a deadline for when he will return to full-time action.
‘I don’t set a deadline for myself. But it’s about getting my rhythm back in each game, to regain the form I had before the injury, little by little. It’s difficult because at the end of the day there are still months. But I’m sure I can catch up with my teammates.’
‘After almost 11 months, I am very happy to be back on the pitch and enjoying every minute of it.’
Asked if he ever feared a recurrence of the injury, Gavi replied: ‘At the end of the day, one of the best things I have on the pitch is that I don’t think too much. What I find harder is the rhythm of the game. At the end of the day, the next few months are the hardest to move forward.’
