The old adage goes, "where there's smoke, there's fire." In this case, where there are dozens of job listings for an unspecified project by a studio that just pooled all its resources to work on a single upcoming game, you'd best bet that development is in full swing.
Rockstar Games already confirmed that it has pooled all of its resources towards making Grand Theft Auto 6 "the best that it can possibly be."
We're not saying that the studio isn't working on anything else, but what other games can you think of warrant the appearance of dozens of job listings by the company? If you don't believe us, feel free to check Rockstar Games' career page as well as Hitmaker, a career website specifically dedicated to jobs in the gaming industry.
With a whopping 226 jobs at Rockstar posted within the past month, it's safe to say that the development on GTA 6 is well under way.
Of course, Rockstar is actually working on other projects like Grand Theft Auto Online, Rockstar Social Club, and its other online games. You can see in the listings that some of the hirings are for the aforementioned titles. But, it appears that the vast majority are for GTA 6 - it's just that Rockstar didn't specify it.
Now, let's say that Rockstar is really working on multiple games, which is possible. Before Rockstar confirmed GTA 6, several sources claimed that it was reviving older franchises with new installments on top of working on remasters of classic games.
For example, there's the long-rumored Bully sequel. Take-Two Interactive also teased new L.A. Noire, Max Payne, and Midnight Club games earlier this year before Remedy Entertainment confirmed its plans to remake the first two Max Payne games.
Plus, Rockstar could still be working on remasters of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption as well as a PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption 2. This is all in addition to some of Rockstar Games' other "forgotten" games that deserve a revival.
If nothing else, we could hear more about Rockstar's plans for the next few months in a few weeks on August 8 when Take-Two Interactive announces its first-quarter financial results of the current fiscal year.
